Major expansion for West Midlands care home

A leading West Midlands care home has opened a new £2 million luxury extension which will increase its capacity to 75 rooms as well as providing new facilities for residents.

Beech Hill Grange, in Wylde Green, Sutton Coldfield has doubled its footprint with a new extension to its Beech Hill Road home, with further capacity planned for the future.

The new extension, which adjoins the existing Edwardian building, includes 13 new luxury en-suite rooms and new facilities. Several of the rooms have stunning views over the nearby Walmley Golf Club.

The extension also includes a new piano lounge and sitting room, a private dining room and a hair salon. In addition, a further 35 rooms are planned for the future.

Construction of the new extension has been carried out using high quality sustainable construction methods and materials. Energy-saving fittings and renewable and sustainable materials ensure high levels of environmental performance.

Beech Hill Grange, which is registered as a care home with nursing and dementia care for people aged 65 and over, was established more than 30 years ago.

Beech Hill Grange director Christian Humpherston, whose mother originally established the home, said the extension would provide the highest level of comfort and care for residents, up to luxury hotel standards.

“There is a need for more residential and nursing care in the area which our new extension will go some way to fulfilling. People’s expectations for care are very high so we have taken that on board in the planning and fitting out of the new extension. It will provide an excellent standard of nursing care and first class facilities in which activities and an active social life continue to be our priority. We are looking forward to welcoming new residents to our home,” he said.

The new extension is now taking residents and showrooms are available for viewing by arrangement.

Established care home announces the completion of two high spec penthouses

Following a six month construction project, Sutton Coldfield-based nursing care home Beech Hill Grange is proud to reveal two high spec penthouses which have been funded by long-term banking partner Royal Bank of Scotland in a deal worth £220,000.

Founded in 1986 by Directors Judith Middleton and Christian Humpherston, combined they have expanded the business considerably over the years into a £2.8million business.

Beech Hill Grange is a 62-bed nursing care home offering an exceptional high standard of care, with specialist dementia care provided. Their latest investment has revealed two high-spec penthouses which have both received an overall luxury finish, including, high end fixtures and fittings bathrooms, solid walnut doors and bespoke furnishings throughout. Judith and Christian have worked closely with interior designers to furnish both penthouse suites.

An internal lift has also been part of the investment to allow residents to travel from the ground floor to the exclusive penthouse level. Structurally this was quite complex, but will be a unique selling point when marketing these prestigious units.

“Looking into the future, Beech Hill Grange has received planning permission to build an additional 42 bedroom annexe which will include outstanding facilities such as: a hair salon and nail bar, restaurants, lounges, a full size cinema and activity rooms. This will generate a significant recruitment campaign, adding to their 168 existing employees.

International Development Secretary opens West Midlands care home Extension

International Development Secretary and MP for Sutton Coldfield Andrew Mitchell officially opened a new £2.5 million luxury extension at a leading West Midlands care home. The extension means that Beech Hill Grange, in Wylde Green, Sutton Coldfield increases capacity from 36 rooms to 55 rooms.

Speaking after the formal opening, Andrew Mitchell pledged that the Coalition Government was committed to an affordable and sustainable funding system for the care and support of the elderly.

He said, “I was delighted to open the new extension at Beech Hill Grange and tour the facilities which will provide more residential and nursing care in Sutton Coldfield. This new facility is an example of high quality care in Sutton and I am proud that it stands in my constituency.”

He added, “The Coalition Government set up the Dilnot Commission on Funding of Care and Support in July 2010. In July 2011 the Commission made recommendations on how to achieve an affordable and sustainable funding system. Many of my constituents have welcomed these reforms which will see care tailored around the needs of an individual and an increased focus on ensuring people are treated with dignity and respect in old age.”

The new extension, which is landscaped and sympathetically designed to blend in with the existing Victorian building, includes 19 new en-suite rooms, three of which have their own private gardens. Many of the rooms have stunning views over the nearby Walmley Golf Club. The extension also includes a new restaurant, a bistro where guests and relatives can get drinks and snacks, a spacious activities lounge and spa bathing facilities.
